Since its establishment, Dunhuang Seed Research Institute has focused on the construction of commercial breeding system, with the goal of cultivating and innovating independent intellectual property rights and the core of research and development, established 6 breeding stations with the area of more than 1,300 mu, and established a biological breeding laboratory to carry out biological breeding through conventional breeding and biological breeding techniques; Established standardized test stations and ecological sites in the main corn producing areas of the country, forming a research and development network and test network system in the main corn producing areas of the country. In recent years, 13 new corn varieties have been examined and approved at the national and provincial levels. There are 4 Chinese varieties and 9 provincial varieties. 55 new varieties of corn are declared and advanced to participate in the 2018 national and provincial varieties. The protection of variety rights has been carried out for 52 new varieties and inbred lines.
